agaves. always very easy to photograph, difficult to go wrong.

yellow

apparently neon yellow is the new black if you are a caterpillar. it doesn't help you much in the camouflage stakes.

succulents in the garden, i'm not sure what they are called. taken yesterday when the sun was out, its been dark skies ever since, sort of looks like it might rain. i can't remember when it last rained. its been months.

clever lotus-folded paper napkin at saowanee's place, north perth. i am grateful that my friends are not surprised when i stop to take photos of things like this. or perhaps they think it is weird but are too polite to say. amounts to the same thing really. i had a really nice night here (although i did think the staff were a little bossy). the food was fresh and tasty, and the company of course was lovely.

blue & brown

i know this photo is a little plain, but there's something about it i really like. the clean perth sky? the patchwork of various browns? the angle of the roof? it was taken in some back alley in northbridge. that sounds dodgy. it wasn't.

orange

this week's flower colour scheme is orange. hmmm.... yummy!

10.3.10

pink

the flowers from the other day, together in the vase.

i love making dough. i think i like making it more than i end up enjoying eating it - i mean i like pizza, but i love making the dough. i don't use a recipe any more but i did start with jamie oliver's recipe because it seemed simple. i like how in the top photo the dough looks like the moon, like an eclipse, and it like how in the bottom photo you can see the "splat" where it landed on the bench when it first came out of the bowl.

brown

this is my mantlepiece scenery at the moment. ordinarily i have a collection of very colourful (red) vases etc but i just got tired of them, and rearranged everything last weekend. i found these stork-y bird things in the op shop and was going to paint them something bright but in the end left them as they are. my house is full of colour, as you can well imagine, but every now and again i get worn out by it and wish for a bit of blandness believe it or not. it usually passes.

i'm still new at this buying flowers for yourself thing, something i started just recently. i got these on the way home today. i don't really know what i am doing - which ones to pick, how to arrange them, but i suppose its not so hard. i just picked the colours i felt like seeing. its a bit dark now to get a photo of them in the vase, but they look pretty good! might try and make it a routine.
